Good wholesome pub grub

As part of its major refurbishment, The Plough had its entire kitchen renovated. This involved completely gutting the existing kitchen area and extending the preparation area. Then, taking advantage of the pandemic downtime, we had an entire new commercial kitchen installed by Basingstoke company, CaterPlan.

Rather than try to be all things to all men, women and children, we have decided to concentrate on a wholesome, traditional menu that is both tasty and reasonably-priced. We will always aim to use locally-sourced produce whenever available and all meals will be freshly prepared in our own kitchens. We will have the occasional special according to season and demand and Karlene will always be looking to add a little spice to the menu whenever she can!

We’ll always try to fit you in if you pop in on the off chance but it’s always safer to book in advance, especially for larger groups. Our newly refurbished garden room is ideal for larger groups or special occasions – as well as being much warmer than the old conservatory!

Decent ales, a robust selection of wines, a healthy stock of your favourite spirits as well as plenty of non-alcoholic and soft drinks: The Plough will aim to satisfy the thirst of all of our customers.

Like all good country pubs, we have a sturdy range of draught ales, lager and ciders. Timothy Taylor Landlord and Sharps Doom Bar are our house ales but we’ll be introducing you to a few guest ales from Dorset and beyond. We’ll also stock a wide range of bottled ales, lagers and ciders.

Our wine selection will range from affordable yet flavoursome house wines to more premium varieties for those with sophisticated tastes or just pushing the boat out. Reds, whites, rosés, sparkling and dessert wines will all be available by the glass or bottle. 

As well as your favourite stock-in-trade spirits we’ll also be featuring some special guest tipples. The market in craft gins, vodka and rum is now insatiable and it would be a sin to keep some of them from you. We will, of course, have some late night whiskies and brandies for those who fancy a wee nightcap before heading home.
